These are non-mimeograph (or at least mimeograph-adjacent) projects that are probably off-the-wall for most MR readers; but you never know, there might be something of interest to you here.
Self-Paced, Self-Improvement Courses
Mimeograph Revival is pleased to be able to host and offer to interested readers all of the coursework related to the Fellowship of the Hermetic Rose, edited and presented by John Michael Greer. Coming from the lineage of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and its offshoot the Holy Order of the Golden Dawn, and part of the same “family” as the Ancient Order of Druids in America, the FHR, as Greer points out, is one of the schools or orders that, rather than focusing on magic, focuses on “meditation, divination, and the study of occult philosophy.” As he explains, the goal of such orders is “wisdom and the development of intuitive and mystical awareness, rather than magical power,” helping students “achieve success in life not by forcing the world to conform to their wills, but by sensing the flow of events and being in the right place at the right time.”
If that’s something that interests you, please feel free to download and study the FHR lessons below. At this time, mimeograph copies are not available, but they are planned to be part of Mimeograph Revival’s catalog of offerings.
Other courses and books will be offered at a later date.
Along similar lines, but less focused on ceremonial or ritual magic, and rather emphasizing “practices of relaxation, breathing, meditation, and blessing, as well as two methods of spiritual healing,” here are the lessons of the four grades of the Modern Order of Essenes: Candidate, Apprentice, Healer, and Master. I’m particularly fond of the “blessing walk,” which is introduced in the first section and is further developed in subsequent lessons. Like the FHR, this was handed down from John Gilbert to John Michael Greer, who has offered it for free and with a creative commons license. The MOE, like the other teachings that are Gilbert’s legacy, is not religiously dogmatic and allows for a great diversity of connection and expression.
